Growth for Port of Amsterdam in the first quarter of 2009

Despite the current economic slump the Port of Amsterdam managed to grow by 7% in the first three months of this year. The growth mainly results from increasing transhipment of energy and related products.

Hans Gerson new alderman of Amsterdam

Hans Gerson has, today, been inaugurated as alderman of the city of Amsterdam. He will be succeeding Tjeerd Herrema who resigned at the end of February. Alderman Gerson will be responsible for Traffic and Transport, including the North-South Line and Living and Monuments. Next week the Municipal Executive will decide on the exact portfolio allocation.
