Port of Amsterdam looks back at excellent 2008

The AmsterdamPortArea (consisting of the Ports of Velsen/IJmuiden, Beverwijk, Zaanstad and Amsterdam) continued its strong performance in 2008. The cargo throughput rose by 4% from 87.4 million metric tons in 2007 to 90.9 million metric tons in 2008. The Portof Amsterdamcan take credit for most of the expansion. Here, the cargo throughput increased by 7% from 67.9 million metric in 2007 tons to 72.4 million metric tons in 2008.
